How to hit farther: distance and exit velocity
Distance and exit velocity come from how hard and fast you swing. In HR Challenge your timing adds to it: the closer to perfect, the harder the ball comes off the bat. Bats, balls and stadiums never change distance, so leaderboards stay fair.
What makes the ball fly
- Swing speed. A faster swing means a higher exit velocity and a longer hit. Swing all the way through.
- Timing (HR Challenge). Hitting the loudest moment of the pitch adds exit velocity. The longest home runs need both power and timing.
- Not your gear. Equipment only changes sound and look.
- Not the Swing detection setting. High catches gentler swings, but distances and scores stay the same.
Milestones
- 340 ft: home run. 400 ft: BOMB! 450 ft: MOONSHOT! 480 ft: LIFTOFF!
- A home run of 480 ft unlocks the Fireball; 500 ft unlocks the Moonshot ball. See Locker Room: all 12 unlocks.
- Your longest HR Challenge home run goes to the Game Center leaderboard Longest home run.

The iPhone app turns your longest home run into a card to share, with a fun comparison such as “≈ 11 school buses end to end”.
Distances and speeds are fun estimates, not measurements.
