Bataboom! guide

How to hit a home run in Bataboom!

A home run takes a swing that is hard and fast enough. In HR Challenge it also takes timing: swing at the loudest moment of the pitch. Lock your grip, swing level around your body, give it everything and swing all the way through.

1. Lock your grip

Both hands together, fingers interlaced, band snug. The watch has to move with the whole swing, so a loose band or one-handed flick loses speed.

2. Swing level

Turn your arms around your body, like a real bat. Chopping down or pulling back does not count. If swings go silent, read Why doesn't my swing count?.

3. Swing hard and fast

Give it everything: the harder and faster you swing, the farther the ball flies. Swing all the way through. In Free Swing, the gold line on the bar is home-run speed: cross it and it is gone.

4. In HR Challenge, time the pitch

The pitch gets louder and peaks when it reaches you. The ring around Laces closes at the same moment. Perfect timing with a strong swing is a home run; perfect timing with a softer swing is a double or triple. After every swing the watch tells you how many milliseconds early or late you were. More in HR Challenge timing: early pulls it, late goes the other way.

5. Start on Easy

Slow pitches, more room on timing and home runs at a slower swing. Move up to Normal and Pro when you hit them often.

How far did it go?

Home runs start at 340 ft. Past 400 ft the call is BOMB!, past 450 ft MOONSHOT! and past 480 ft LIFTOFF!. Hit them back to back and the crowd, the organ and the announcer keep getting louder. Distances are fun estimates, not measurements.

Swing your wrist. Hear the crack.
