Getting started
- Install TrueCue on your Apple Watch. It installs with the iPhone app, or get it from the App Store on the watch.
- Wear the watch on your stroking hand, the hand that holds the back of the cue, and tighten the band.
- Open TrueCue on the watch and tap Start. Calibrate once (about 10 seconds): take your stance and hold still for 2 seconds, then make 5 practice strokes.
- Play. Every stroke with contact gets a tap and a score within about a second.
Common questions
Why did a stroke get no score?
“Not measured” means the stroke looked uncertain, and TrueCue would rather give no score than a wrong one. Common reasons:
- The band is loose, so the data is noisy
- The stroke was interrupted halfway
- A jump or massé shot, with the cue raised steeply
- The watch is not on your stroking hand
Practice strokes without contact are never scored, and chalking or racking is ignored, on purpose. If many strokes show “Not measured”, tighten the band and recalibrate: Me › ☰ › Watch & Calibration › Recalibrate on Apple Watch.
Scores feel too strict or too easy.
Everyone is scored on the same scale. Change how strict it is in Me › ☰ › Practice settings › Sensitivity: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced or Custom.
What is the difference between High-Precision and Basic?
Series 8, SE (2nd generation), Ultra and later read motion 800 times a second and catch contact, and any pull-back after it, more reliably. Series 6 and 7 read it 100 times a second. Scoring is the same in both modes. Your mode is shown under Me › ☰ › Watch & Calibration. On SE (2nd generation), TrueCue falls back to Basic by itself if High-Precision cannot start.
The watch missed strokes while my wrist was down.
Allow Health for TrueCue: the practice then runs as a workout, so the watch keeps recording with your wrist down and can use High-Precision. On your iPhone: Settings › Privacy & Security › Health › TrueCue. Only one workout can run at a time, so end any other workout first.
Does it work without my iPhone nearby?
Yes. Practice on the watch alone; sessions go to your iPhone when it is back in range.
How do I add TrueCue to my watch face?
Touch and hold the watch face, tap Edit, choose a complication slot and pick TrueCue. It shows your last practice average.
How do I restore my purchase?
On your iPhone: Me › ☰ › Purchase › Restore Purchase. On the watch, the “Trial ended” screen has Restore Purchase too. It uses your Apple Account; there is no sign-in with us, and it does not depend on iCloud. With Family Sharing, family members get the unlock automatically.
Will my history come back on a new iPhone?
Yes, if iCloud is on. Your sessions, profile and settings are kept in your private iCloud. Me › ☰ › Data & iCloud shows whether iCloud is on and when it last synced. Without iCloud everything still works, but history stays on that iPhone.
How do I delete my data?
Me › ☰ › Data & iCloud › Delete All Data removes every session, your profile and settings from the iPhone and from iCloud. Your purchase is not affected. Workouts saved in Apple Health stay there; delete them in the Health app if you want.
How do I get a refund?
Purchases are handled by Apple. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
