Slowing down at contact
Your hand is already slowing down when the tip hits the cue ball. The cue ball rolls short and the stroke feels unsure.
Common causes
- Stopping the stroke at the ball
- A backswing that is too long for the shot
How to fix it
- Aim to hit a point past the cue ball
- Use a shorter backswing and a smooth, growing push
- Finish with the cue tip well past where the ball was
