Pulling back after contact
The moment the tip hits the ball, you pull the cue back. A short stroke doesn't need a long follow-through, but the tip should carry on a little before it stops.
Common causes
- Fear of hitting too hard
- Stopping the arm with the shoulder
How to fix it
- Let the tip carry on a few centimetres past the ball, even on a short stroke
- Keep the grip hand relaxed after contact
- Freeze at the finish and check where the tip ended
